Art Gone Wild
Art is going wild at Zoo Atlanta! Announcing the Zoo’s annual plein air event, “Art Gone Wild,” from Monday, June 1 through Friday, June 5, 2015, at Zoo Atlanta. An art show and silent auction will take place on Saturday, June 13.
Up to forty artists will be selected to create their art “en plein air,” or “in the open air,” using the exotic and inspiring animals, botanicals and scenery of the Zoo as their muses. Zoo Atlanta guests will have the opportunity to watch as the artists take their canvases from blank to beautiful.

Art en plein air at Zoo Atlanta
From the French “in the open air,” plein air art is created outside. While this style most often applies to paintings, Art Gone Wild will accept any medium on canvas, including oil, acrylic, watercolor, chalk, charcoal, pencil and ink. Fiber arts and clay are also allowed. Artists will be permitted to use digital photography taken during paint-out week for reference, as our living subjects aren’t likely to hold a pose! However, photography will not be accepted, but the event may expand to include photography in the future.  Find out more about Art Gone Wild (PDF).
