More than 30 participating artists will capture their muses in the Zoo this week
ATLANTA – June 2, 2014 – Paint-Out Week is in full swing for the first-annual Art Gone Wild at Zoo Atlanta. From Monday, June 2 through Friday, June 6, more than 30 artists will be on Zoo grounds following their inspirations. The event highlights the art of “Plein Air,” or painting outdoors. The artworks will be featured at the Art Gone Wild Art Show and Silent Auction on Saturday, June 14.
“We’re very excited about kicking off our first Art Gone Wild. Throughout this week, our Members and guests can enjoy an added layer of cultural experience as they watch the artists work,” said Raymond B. King, President and CEO. “We know the animals and scenes of Zoo Atlanta are wonderful sources of inspiration, and we can’t wait to see the finished products exhibited at the Art Show and Silent Auction later this month.”
Zoo Atlanta issued an official call for artists earlier this year, and participating individuals were selected by a committee of Zoo Board of Directors members, staff and representatives of the Atlanta art community. The 2014 artists are Ann Bailey, Josie Bloom, Arrin Freeman Burgand, Pat Burns, Ed Cahill, Amy Pugh Campos, DeDe Collicott, Kanayo Ede, Leigh Ellis, Mary Ferguson, Yo Yo Ferro, Becky Fried, Natalie Huggins, Carl Jane, Denise Jennings, Lisa Gleim Jonas, Leslie Line, Nancy Livengood, Donna Lograsso, Peter Loose, Dawn Kinney Martin, Pat McNeeley, Katherine Miele, Celeste McClough, Ann Otterness, Ken Paradise, Barbara Ratner, Jen Richards, Michael Rovinsky, Choiaieb Saidi, Jennifer Slavik, Jennifer Taylor, John Trotter, Ashley Turner, Jeff Riggan and Kathy Wochele.
