Get ready to meet Lex and Eleanor
As Zoo Atlanta prepares to introduce two of its newest animal babies, visitors can get excited about putting names with faces. The warthog piglets born to Shirley on April 17 have been named Lex (male) and Eleanor (female).
The 4-week-old siblings were named through an auction opportunity at the Zoo’s Beastly Feast black-tie gala on May 3. The winning patrons named the youngsters in honor of their children.
Lex and Eleanor represent the fifth litter for 8-year-old warthogs Shirley and Vern. Found throughout the savanna of eastern sub-Saharan Africa, warthogs are not currently classified as endangered.
Members and guests can to get a peek at the new arrivals during Memorial Day weekend, when the piglets and their parents are expected to make their debut on exhibit.
