Diversity Programs and Initiatives

AZA Diversity Committee
The Diversity Special Committee was created in 1999 and is chaired by Cary Burgess, Zoo Atlanta’s Senior Vice President of Operations. The Diversity Special Committee works with AZA members to create a clearer understanding of the true definition of diversity, to provide basic information about the benefits of diversity, and to identify resources that will aid member institutions in developing positive approaches to human diversity issues. Human Resources and Diversity Committee
The Human Resources and Diversity Committee, established in January 2008, is chaired by Zoo Atlanta Board member Marquette Chester and includes a diverse group of leaders from our organization and Board of Directors. The committee’s mission is to advise and recommend strategic direction and policy to senior leadership to achieve Zoo Atlanta’s Human Resources and Diversity mission.
