How long does it take to see the
Zoo?
Tours of the Zoo typically take two or three hours.
Does the Zoo close during the
winter? Is it open on holidays?
Zoo Atlanta is open 363 days a year, closed only on Thanksgiving Day
and Christmas Day.
Do I get in free if I am a member
of another zoo?
Zoo Atlanta offers reciprocal discounts for members of select zoos and
aquariums nationwide. See our Reciprocal List for a complete list of reciprocal
arrangements.
Do I have to specify the date I am
visiting when purchasing tickets online?
No, tickets are valid six months from the date of purchase.
What is the admission fee for
students?
College Student rate is $16.99. For field trips, go to the page for more price info.
Do groups need to make
reservations?
Groups of 10 or more may receive discounted group rates. Tickets are available online, or at our
front gate upon arrival.
May I leave and return during my
visit at Zoo Atlanta?
Yes, there is a hand stamping station to the right of our Security
office. Stamp the back of your hand once, and you will be permitted to
re-enter (that day only).
Am I allowed to bring food into
the Zoo?
Yes, there are picnic areas and tables in the KIDZone and Grand
Patio areas, but glass containers and straws are not allowed in the Zoo. No outside alcohol is allowed on Zoo
grounds.
Can I rent a wheelchair or
stroller?
Yes, wheelchairs and strollers are available on a first-come,
first-served basis. These items can be rented inside the entrance at Safari
Outfitters.
Can I bring my own stroller? Are
there any stroller restrictions?
Yes, guests are welcome to bring their own strollers, although it
may be necessary to park your stroller outside certain exhibits.
Is there an ATM at the Zoo?
There is a Wells
Fargo ATM at the front of the Zoo.
Does the Zoo have a lost and
found?
Yes, our Lost and Found is located inside Security, near the main
entrance of the Zoo. Please call 404.624.5670 to inquire about lost items.
Items found are logged in and kept for 30 days.
Do I have to make reservations
for programs?
Advanced registration is required for all our Educa
tion programs.
Can I host a birthday party for
my child at the Zoo?
Yes, kids of all ages can enjoy a private birthda
y party at the Zoo. Lunch is provided for 10 people, and additional
entertainment options are available. Please call 404.624.5650 for more
information.
Do you offer behind-the-scenes
tours?
Behind-the-scene opportunities at Zoo Atlanta are limited to members
of the Conservation Society (donors of $1,000 and up). These tours can only be offered on a limited basis due to the time constraints they place on the keeper and curator staff. For another option, consider the Keeper for a Day or Wild Encounters programs.
May I take pictures at the
Zoo?
Yes, but the visitor must
agree not to commercially use any photography or reproduction in any
form taken during any visit to Zoo Atlanta.
Why are some of the animals so
hard to see?
Zoo Atlanta’s animal habitats are designed so that animals have
places to sleep, enjoy shade and display natural behaviors you’d see in
the wild. Some animals are naturally less active in the middle of the day.
If you don’t see an animal, check back later in your visit, or ask a
keeper about the animals’ favorite resting spots.
Can I volunteer at the
Zoo?
Absolutely! Zoo Atlanta offers exciting volunteer
opportunities for both youth and adults.
