What’s to come ...
The historic Cyclorama building will be revitalized and reborn as a one-of-a-kind event destination overlooking the wonders of an all-new African savanna, where African elephants will roam a new and significantly expanded habitat. Other project highlights will include a new grand entry plaza and more. We look forward to continuing to share updates on our progress!
History is being made at the Zoo.
The gift kicked off the launch of the A Grand New View: Elephants, Events and Expansion capital campaign. Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Arthur M. Blank, chairman of The Arthur M. Blank Foundation and owner of the Atlanta Falcons, served as the campaign’s Honorary Chairs.
In summer 2016, Zoo Atlanta announced that a gift of $2 million from the Thalia N. Carlos & Chris M. Carlos Foundation had closed the gap in the final lap of the campaign, enabling the Zoo to claim the entire match of the $20 million challenge grant from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation. The announcement came only 18 months after the official campaign launch and was presented against and original fundraising goal of $38.1 million. Zoo Atlanta raised over $42 million for the campaign, including 12 gifts of $1 million or more.
