Warthog Piglets Debut at Zoo Atlanta

See the Zoo’s exciting new arrivals this weekend

If Atlantans have by chance forgotten the singular joy of warthog piglets, Zoo Atlanta presents two unusually endearing reasons to remember. Two male piglets born to Vern and Shirley on April 15 have joined their parents full-time on Zoo Atlanta’s African Plains.

If the 2008 debut of the piglets older sibling, Georgia P, serves as any indication, the recent arrivals are certain to delight Zoo Members and guests with their playful behavior and curious exploration of their surroundings. Future outings will include their first introduction to their parents’ favorite summer spot – the large, mud-filled wallow in the center of their habitat.

Zoo Atlanta’s newest stars also have a brother and a sister who are  currently being reared by staff. The Animal Management and Veterinary Teams will begin family introductions after the latter two are weaned and ready to explore the great  outdoors.
