Member FAQs

Purchasing/ Renewing/ Changing Membership
Can I renew my Membership online?
You may renew your Membership at any time online. When you click on the purchase link for the correct level of Membership, “Click here to renew” appears at the bottom of the confirmation screen. Please provide your previous Member ID# shown on your card so we can match you up to your original record. You may update your contact information on the purchase screens, and you may include additional information in the “Notes” field if necessary.
Can I add extra people to my membership?
All Memberships allow daily admission for two adults. These adults can be anyone; they do not need to be a spouse or other family member. If you choose to name only one adult on the card, that named Member may bring one guest on each visit (your card will read, “Admits: Your Name + Guest”). However, guests MUST accompany the Member for admission and will not be admitted separately. For additional guests besides the two named adults in the Membership, we offer the Add-a-Guest or Add-a-Named Adult options. The Adventure Pack Guest add-on allows you to bring a guest each time you visit, and the Adventure Pack Named Adult add-on allows you to assign a named adult who may bring your children to the Zoo. Safari and Journey Memberships allow both the guest and named adult benefits. Guests must accompany Members for free admission.
I want to bring a different person with me each time I visit the Zoo. How can I show that on my Membership?
All Memberships allow daily admission for two adults. If you choose to name only one adult on the card, that named Member may bring one guest on each visit (your card will read, “Admits: Molly Member + Guest”). However, guests MUST accompany the Member for admission and will not be admitted separately. Any additional accompanying guests (up to 6) enjoy 10% off regular-priced admission. If you have two adults named on your card, the Adventure Pack Guest add-on allows you to bring a guest each time you visit. Safari and Journey Memberships also allow the guest benefit. Guests must accompany Members for free admission.
Can I have TWO guests on my Membership?
With the Adventure Pack Guest add-on and Safari and Journey Memberships, if only one adult is designated on the card, the second, undesignated guest may be combined with the + Guest benefit of the higher level Membership to allow two guests. Your card will read, “Admits Your Name + 2 Guests.” Guests must accompany Members for free admission.

Memberships are not transferable, but you may use the Adventure Pack Named Adult add-on ($40) to designate a named nanny to bring your children to the Zoo in your absence.
My children are coming to the Zoo with relatives; can they use my Membership?
Your children may be admitted for free with a copy of your Membership card (so original cards do not get lost), but the adults will have to pay admission, as Memberships are not transferable. However, up to 6 non-Members accompanying your Member children are eligible for the 10% admission discount extended to our Members’ guests.
My children are coming to the Zoo with a school group; can they use my Membership?

A minimum of 10 paying (non-Member) participants are required for the group to receive a field trip admission rate.
I only have two children; may I bring two other children with my Membership?
Yes, each Membership (except Companion) allows the named Member up to 4 children under 18 to accompany them.
Other Membership Questions
Can I lend my card to a friend or family member?
Your Membership is nontransferable, allowing only those adults listed on the Membership cards and up to four children under the age 18 to be admitted free of charge. As we are a non-profit organization that relies on public funding to cover our operating expenses, and we try very hard to keep our Membership prices affordable for as many people in our community as possible, please encourage your friends & family to join so they can also enjoy the Membership benefits. If you would like the option of bringing a different guest with you each time you visit, you may add on the Adventure Pack to your Family or Companion Membership for only $40.
How do matching gifts work?
If your company participates in gift-matching 1. Request a matching gift pledge form from your company’s HR department.
2. Submit the completed form to Zoo Atlanta with your Membership payment and application.*
*For online purchases, please include in the “Notes” field of your online application that you will be sending in a matching gift pledge, and then fax your completed form to us at 404.624.5819 within 48 hours of your payment.
I have a Family Membership; can my children visit the Zoo without me?
Yes, but please call 404.624.WILD at least 24 hours in advance to arrange their visit. The children will be placed on the guest list, allowing them admission with a copy of the parent Member card.
Why have you requested my email address?
To conserve the Earth’s resources, we prefer to communicate with you via email. If you provide us your email address, you will receive Zoo updates and occasional reminders about upcoming events as well as special email-only offers. You may change your communications preferences.
Do you sell my info to third parties?
We only use your information to communicate Zoo Atlanta news and Membership matters. Your email and phone number will never be sold or given to outside parties. You may receive a phone call from ComNet Marketing in Medford, Oregon offering a convenient way to renew your Membership over the phone. These trusted partners are employed by Zoo Atlanta to offer this service, and your number will never be used otherwise. However, if you would prefer not to receive calls from this company, you may change your communications preferences.
You have my email address, but I don’t receive emails. What’s wrong?
At some time, you may have checked a box stating you do not want to be contacted via email. You may request to change your contact preferences at any time or you may call 404.624.WILD or email membership@zooatlanta.org to inquire.
How can I get further involved with the Zoo?
Zoo Atlanta wouldn’t be the same without the support of our dedicated volunteers, docents, and sponsors who receive unique benefits in exchange for their assistance. Volunteers receive valuable training and opportunities aligned to their interests. You must be a Member to volunteer with the Zoo. See our volunteer page for details.
How much of my Membership is tax-deductible?
Your payment, less the fair market value of the benefits you receive, is deductible for income tax purposes. Under Internal Revenue Services (IRS) guidelines, the estimated value of the benefits of standard-level Memberships (Companion & Family) is not substantial; therefore the full amount of your payment is a deductible contribution. For upper-level Memberships (Adventure Pack, Safari and Journey) which receive guest-passes, however, those passes are valued at $16.00 apiece, for IRS purposes, which reduces the tax deduction. For these Memberships, the tax- deductible amount is provided on your Membership card letter, or email membership@zooatlanta.org for details.
I forgot to ask for my discount when I purchased my Membership. May I get a refund for the discount?
Our discounts are provided at the time of purchase only, and most cannot be obtained online. Please contact Member Services for details on any discounted Memberships prior to your purchase.
I’m moving out of state. May I get a refund for my Membership?
Membership dollars directly support Zoo Atlanta’s operation and conservation work, and we are unable to refund Memberships. However, check with the local zoo in the area you move to for reciprocal zoo offers for the remainder of your Zoo Atlanta Membership.
