Habitat loss and destruction, mainly due to logging and farming, deforestation and population segmentation are most serious threats to giant panda survival. Zoo Atlanta is heavily involved in giant panda conservation, including participation in the Giant Panda SSP for captive-bred populations, panda research and support for the Chengdu Research Base, and ground-breaking educational initiatives in partnership with China’s zoos.
