The status of this species was recently downgraded from critically endangered as a result of nearly 30 years of conservation. In addition to participating in the Golden Lion Tamarin SSP, Zoo Atlanta participates in a free-ranging program that gives captive-born GLTs the opportunity to hone their climbing and foraging skills.
