Some rhino populations have declined as much as 90% over the last 60 years, mostly due to poaching for horns, and the eastern black rhino has suffered the most drastic decline of all. Zoo Atlanta actively participates in the Black Rhino SSP, and members of the Atlanta chapter of the Association of American Zoo Keepers (AAZK) also host the annual Bowling for Rhinos, a highly successful fundraising event that directly benefits rhinos in the wild.
