Dwight Lawson, PhD
Deputy Director
Prior to joining Zoo Atlanta in 2000 as General Curator, Dwight served as an Associate Research Scientist for The Wildlife Conservation Society. He has worked with a variety of wildlife in a field capacity, with a specialty in chelonians (turtles and tortoises). Dwight’s primary research interests are in amphibian and reptile taxonomy and ecology. He currently serves as Vice President of the Turtle Survival Alliance.
Dwight has a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Biology and PhD in Quantitative Biology from The University of Texas at Arlington. He serves as an adjunct faculty member of Georgia State University.
